Millsboro Town Clerk Joanne Dorey was selected as the 2022 Delaware Municipal of the Year by the Delaware League of Local Governments (DLLG) and the Delaware Municipal Clerks Association (DMCA). DLLG Vice-President Archie Campbell, DMCA President Diana Reed, DMCA Vice-President Ashleigh Sander, and Millsboro Town Manager Jamie Burk honored Ms. Dorey at a ceremony Thursday night in Dover. The award is presented by DLLG and DMCA each year to acknowledge a clerk who has shown exceptional professional or personal qualities working as a town or city clerk in their municipality.
Joanne was nominated for the award by Millsboro Town Manager Jamie Burk. Burk stated "Joanne excels at legislative and governing body procedures, records management, and is a true leader within our organization." He added, "Joanne possesses a professional yet personal, caring approach. She treats both internal and external customers with respect and always maintains a positive mental attitude."
Dorey has served as Millsboro's Town Clerk for the past six years and has been employed with the Town for ten years. She is in the process of earning the Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, which is designed to enhance the job performance of the Clerk in small and large municipalities.
